Here at Wengerd Wood, we work the computerized machines that can automatically cut out almost any shape or pattern that we can draw with a CAD (Computer Aided Design) program. Our high-quality machines allow us to cut a wide variety of materials including:
- MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)
- Poly Wood
Of course, we are not strictly limited to these materials, so if you have a question about whether we can mill your material or not, just give us a call!
The products that we mill usually fall into one of three categories of milling: solid stock milling, sheet stock milling, and engraving.
Solid Stock Milling
Solid stock items that we mill are typically hardwood furniture components such as table legs, chair seats, and bed posts or other hardwood items such as cutting boards and serving trays.
Our machines can cut almost any shape, however, and have done many other unique items including turkey calls, electric guitar bodies, and cornhole games.
We use only heavy-duty CNC machines manufactured by Diversified Machine Systems in Colorado, so they can handle even the heaviest of work with ease and precision.
Whether we are working off of a full-scale CAD drawing, a sample part that you have been cutting by hand, or a hand-drawn layout, we have the tools and the expertise to take what you have and precisely re-create the same part as often as you need – whether that is only one piece, or 10,000 pieces.
Sheet Stock Milling
Sheet stock milling is typically MDF or plywood milled to your specifications for cabinet and furniture assembly.
Our standard CAD software allows us to nest all of your cabinet parts into sheets for maximum yield, saving you time and money on material and hand labor. For an even more seamless and powerful cabinet production experience, we also have Cabinet Vision software that allows for extremely easy engineering and machining of cabinet parts. Contact us to find out more about how that together we can utilize powerful software to do most of the heavy lifting when designing and manufacturing cabinets.
We can do all types of cuts and joints on both sides of the sheet stock including:
- Blind Dados
- Tongue and Groove
The precision cuts allowed by the CNC machines make assembly of the parts a snap with professional results every time. We can save you time and money by allowing our machines to do all the heavy and tedious work of cutting leaving only assembly and finishing to you.
Our machines can also do intricate engravings in the following materials:
- Solid Wood
- Poly Wood
We can engrave blanket chest tops and fronts, chair back, bench backs, cabinet trim as well as many other items to allow you to give your customer that special touch they can’t get anywhere else.
We can engrave your design, or we can create a design for you to best fit you and your customer’s needs.
We also offer custom laser engraving on a wide variety of materials including:
- Stainless Steel
We can etch almost any design such as logos, photos, and markings. As with the CNC engraving, we can laser your design or we can create a design to fit your needs.
We can also cut a variety of wood and acrylic material with the laser up to .5″ thick. This is a good option for especially small or intricate parts that would be difficult to cut on a CNC machine.

What to Expect
The first step in getting a component cut by us is to contact us either via request for quote or by phone and discuss the details of the component to ensure that we are able deliver the component as you need it.
The next step would be to give us final drawings or part patterns so that we can convert them to CAD drawing for the CNC machines, as well as getting the material to the shop for us to mill.
You have two options when it comes to getting the material to us:
- Supply your own material
- Have us order the material for you
Supplying your own material gives you greater control over the quality of the wood that we mill which in the end gives you greater control over your end product. This is also the fastest way to get your product milled as we do not have to wait for the material to arrive from a third-party supplier.
However, we do have the connections we need to supply almost any material that you may need and have it delivered directly to our shop. This may be the most convenient for you but please note that due to supplier delivery times, the lead time on your product may be increased by as much as 2 – 3 weeks. Please contact us for more details.
Once we have the part drawings approved and have the material on hand, we can begin the machining process. Our lead times for most smaller jobs is three to five business day, but we try to be flexible and accommodate your needs whenever possible.
When we are done with the job we will contact you and notify you that it is done. Again you have several options for product delivery:
- Pick up the product at our location
- Arrange for shipping to your location via third party
- Drop-ship the product directly to your customer
Again, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our order and shipping process.
